Every woman or a style loving girl on earth wants to wear the jewelry! For everyday new style statements, the jewelry matching to your dress up is the very first demand! It is not batting at all to have a lot of jewelry, and the problem is the wrong ways to store the jewelry! While not having a better jewelry holder or DIY jewelry organizer ideas, most girls and women tend to store their all jewelry items in a box or a specific drawer; this results in a big mess! Sometimes it also causes significant damage to your expensive jewelry items!
If the jewelry is very dirty or very tarnished – like silver or gold – then you may need to repeat the process so just add a little more baking soda and more boiling water – but make sure it’s boiling, that’s key!  You can also use a toothbrush to get in all the nooks and crannies of detailed jewelry. Be careful with precious gems, stones and metals.

This method works great on sterling, silver, gold, costume jewelry metals.. But do be careful if you’re got a lot crystals glued into a setting and limit soaking to no more than 90 seconds – or you might melt the glue. Also, don’t immerse natural pearls in this solution – it’s too caustic. It is however, fine for most gemstones and this homemade jewelry cleaner works wonders on cubic zirconia (CZ stones)! And in case you’re wondering ….it also works fab for cleaning silverware, silver frames or any silver home decor!
I have a great jewelry polish that is super simple. Take a small piece of aluminum foil, about 1″ square, and put it in the bottom of a coffee cup. Add about a T of baking soda. Pour boiling water over it and dunk your jewelry. You can drop it in and swirl it around, or you can just dunk it a few times and it cleans any tarnish off in seconds. I like to put a twist tie or string on the jewelry and then just dunk it. When I pull it out, sometimes there are some little dark spots. I just rub them out with my finger. This works well on tarnished silver dishes or tableware as well.
I tried this and it worked great for some of my pieces (all are 925 silver from Tiffany) but one of my necklaces actually turned darker. Tried the solution two more times and left it to soak, tried to use a polishing cloth after the solution under running water and no change. So bizarre because it worked like magic on all my other silver. Thoughts?

be careful with the white gold, most of it is plated with rhodium (a metal in the platinum family); white gold itself is dull, and this is done to make it shiny. I had a jeweller in the family, and got my original wedding band from him, many years ago. When he asked if I wanted it plated, I said no. I’m sure my face was a treat when I first saw it; it was immediately plated! This method of cleaning might remove the plating eventually. I’d check with a jeweller before doing it too often.

If soaking the jewelry doesn’t clean the pieces well enough, you can use an old soft bristle toothbrush to get a more in-depth clean. Place the brush in the cleaner and gently tap around the mounting with the bristles of the brush. This should help remove any grime and dirt that may have built up in the crevices and around the mount. Dip the ring back in the solution to remove any loose dirt, rinse and place on the towel to dry.
I need to try this on my grandmother’s sterling service that got willed to me. My Dad keeps asking me why I don’t set the table with it for holidays; I don’t want to tell him I’m afraid his mother’s silverware would give us all food poisoning…I have silver polish but I wince–and quickly find another chore to do–every time I think about having to stand there and individually polish an 80-piece sterling service set!

An old wooden coat hanger can be transformed into the perfect jewelry organizer with a few small hooks and maybe some decorative ribbon. First, decorate the hanger however you want, if you want. Then add tiny command hooks for holding necklaces and bracelets. You can stick the hooks into the wood all the way around the hanger and even on both sides if you want. You get loads of space for hanging your jewelry and a wooden hanger will cost only a few cents at thrift stores so this is a really cheap project as well.

Presto! This works like MAGIC! I’m a jewelry-maker, and sometimes generous friends bestow me with old costume jewelry that I love to take apart and repurpose.
