I used Color Oops on my hair and forgot to remove my rings before rinsing. I looked at my hand to discover my BIG ring was yellow and black with a slight oil slick color in spots (rainbow). I immediately got upset and started to panic. I tried your recipe in a small tupperware lined with foil. IT WORKED!!!! My ring is back to the original three colors.
Just tried this on jewelry I have not worn for years. OMG!!! It’s amazing. I actually went on a manhunt around the house looking for more gold and silver to try it on. I was recently thinking of having my white gold ring re-dipped. Not anymore. It looks brand new again. I will definitely use this anytime I need to clean my jewelry. Thanks millions for sharing it!
Seashells are one of the best natural materials to make jewelry as they are very cheap and look awesome. Besides, you can find seashells when you go to the beach. Take two shells and make holes in shells and attach 2 jump rings and 2 earring hooks. The final step is to glue pearls. Done! You can use different kinds of shells and pearl beads for more variation. Also, you can use beads to decorate earrings.
When your favorite bling just doesn't have the same sparkle, instead of purchasing expensive cleaning solutions or bucking out for a professional scrubbing, try this easy DIY jewelry cleaner. Using ingredients you already have in your pantry, this concoction costs pennies to make and doesn't use any harsh chemicals — just the power of science. And you can give your old toothbrush a new life by gently scrubbing jewels postsoak. Before you know it, your special gems will be dazzling.
Over time, the pieces of jewelry that you frequently wear might begin to develop a grimy layer of dirt that can cause even the brightest of your gemstones look dull. To bring back the sparkle you can take your jewelry to a professional to clean it. However, this can take time and get rather expensive. A more convenient, and inexpensive way to clean your jewelry is to make a homemade jewelry cleaner and clean your pieces at home.
A strip of lace can do wonders for helping you to keep earrings organized. The greatest thing about this project is how it looks so rustic and antique. That’s done using teabags to stain the lace and give it an old-word feel. There are very few supplies needed and if you have enough lace, you can create several of these and just hang them all together to keep all of your earrings organized. It’s a beautiful, easy project that will take very little time but instantly improve your bedroom or bathroom décor just by having it hanging there.

hmm…just tried this for a very tarnished rope chain….didn’t work at all….i did use cider vinegar as it was all I had but followed exactly…smelled horrible! Was cider vinegar not good to use? I’m thinking that is why it smells so bad. Ugh…now to get this horrid smell out of my house! I’m bummed…going to try just boiling water and baking soda now and see if that works at all.
i work in precious metals so i have used rubbing alcohol, just put gold or silver in a jar, with the rubbing alcohol and wait overnight. there should be a drastic difference in shine and clarity. it does work for all types of jewelry and precious metals except for pearls and rhodium. definitely do not use this stuff on rhodium. it may cause an explosion, just maybe with rhodium.
Presto! This works like MAGIC! I’m a jewelry-maker, and sometimes generous friends bestow me with old costume jewelry that I love to take apart and repurpose. I received just such a lot the other day, but the pieces I was interested in were dull and discolored and tarnished. Since I didn’t pay anything for them, and since they were useless to me in their present condition, I figured I’d try this.

Select a mild cleaning agent for your homemade jewelry cleaner recipe. Dish soap with grease-cutting properties can be used, but skip dish soap with harsh anti-bacterial properties as this can strip the finish off jewelry surfaces. Dish soap is a good idea for semi-precious stones with softer surfaces or those that have been chemically treated by the jewelry designer, such as amber and turquoise.
DIY Lace Ring ~ This dainty lace ring is not only pretty, but so simple to make.  Only two items are needed, ribbon lace and fabric stiffener. This works great, but be careful with gem stones. Some of them like amethyst and emerald and any others which are in the quartz family are heat sensitive. Just put them in once the water has cooled down some. Cubic Zirconia are fazed by anything. They are lab grown under high heat and pressure. I fire them in a kiln at 1650 degrees in silver metal clay jewelry, and they are bothered at all.

Unlike other precious metals, gold doesn’t tarnish over a period. That doesn’t mean, however, that you don’t need to keep it clean. The oils and dirt from your hands can quickly make it look dull. The baking soda, salt, and aluminum foil used to create this homemade gold jewelry cleaner generate a chemical exchange called an ion transfer, which is a natural way to clean metals.
